The I-Mark I series “Quiet” Scribe is the single most popular programmable system sold by Columbia Marking Tools. The solid build of this unit, combined with the Ballscrew drives makes industrial 24/7 high volume marking easy.
The I-Mark line uses the latest technology to expand the process of marking. The I-Mark controller can be configured for up to 6 axis and a wide range of tooling. Plus the standard marking head can mark BOTH dot-peen and scribe in the same marking legend
Columbia Marking Tools’ patented Square ◙ Dot® scribe marking enables encoding data, such as 2D Matrix codes, onto hard materials at very high speed with Grade “A” readability, the highest standard rating, equivalent to 1,200 reads per second with no variations.
The Diamond Scribe creates very clean looking marks. The diamond tip embeds into the substrate and carves the characters. This is different than a dot-peen or pinstamp method. In the pinstamp operation the carbide pin quickly impacts the surface in rapid succession while the marking head is moved across the surface tracing the characters.
The I-Mark Scribe has a diamond tip to clearly mark on a wide range of materials. This is an example scribe mark on a plastic helmet. The example also shows how the tip can easily mark on a contoured surface.
This is a great comparison between the standard dot-peen 2D code and the Patented CMT Square-Dot version. A 2D code, or Data Matrix, is specifically designed to be read by a vision system. This machine readable code can be put on parts in a wide variety of methods. These methods include ink jet, dot-peen, scribe, and laser. Dot-Peen and Scribe provide the solutions with the deepest marks, are considered permanent, and economical as compared to other methods
Q: How to lengthen the life of the Diamond pin and improve the look of the mark on the IMC? A: Adjust the Pin strike down force flow control (often called speed control) to not impact the tag leaving the deep start point mark on each character (this is key Read more…
