Stamp falling out during marking operation.

Published by Bernard Sparks on

Q: We are currently using the model 78-FN-OB-10 to mark (1) 1/8” tall character into aluminum. The problem we are having is every 500 or so marks the stamp insert is falling out. Should we use Loctite to prevent the set screw from loosening?

A: NO DO NOT USE LOCTITE! It sounds like the set screw is backing out because of vibration. We offer a “GB” style rod to prevent this from happening. The “GB” rod uses a roll pin and O-ring for stamp retention. Please see the picture below for and example. Please note that you will need a different style stamp also. The part number is CM7G13-X (replace X with any number or letter) You can buy a new unit or send your old one in and CMT can upgrade it.
