Lubrication oil for air impact markers

Published by Marc Steele on

Q: For lubrication normally we use 10W “light” industrial hydraulic oil.
This oil type isn’t mentioned in GM specifications. Our question is, which
oil you prefer for lubrication of the air impact marker in the attached
list? Can we also use the oil “5W/30 Motor Oil” for lubricate the marker?
The CMT impact Markers are designed and manufactured in 2 series. Non-Lube
design which does not require any lubrication and standard lube seal design.

A: Both the oils you sited in your original e-mail will work. CMT prefers
to use a straight 20 to 30 viscosity oil, as in most manufacturing areas the
machines are in a very warm temperature which tends to thin 10W oil too
much. I also comprised a list below and it is used by manufactures of air
in-line lubricators.
