Air Impact Markers Stamps falling out.

Published by Drew Davis on

Q:we have a major issue with loose stamps in your air impact markers

We are using these to mark parts for our customer, the problem is that these stamps keep falling out and our customer has major problems identifying the parts for the next process because the ID-mark is missing!

The stamps been used are: CM7X19-C and CM7X19-D and they are fixed using a headless screw.

These screws get loose after a while and no matter how tight you set the screw it still isn’t process safe.

Have you experienced this problem in the past and what is your solution to this problem.

A: The disposable retaining “set screw” needs to be used with either nylok patch type or apply removable threat locker.

In answer to your question. This is not a problem in the past. Over 50,000 of these are marking in the field with no problem when properly serviced.

Option 1

In USA we apply removable thread locker to standard 10-32 x ¼” cup set screw.

Permatex brand here is link for you. http://www.permatex.com/products-2/product-categories/thread-compounds/threadlockers/permatex-surface-insensitive-threadlocker-blue-detail

Germany distributer for this product is company called “STiXX”  Link I looked up for you. http://www.stixx.com/

Option 2

If you can buy thread size 10-32 x ¼” long with nylon patch already on threads.

I have provided a link below to this product. Price is very reasonable.

Option 3

We make also make a different rod style and stamp configuration.

This utilizes a groove in the stamp and a pin with o-ring retention system.

  1. The stamp is put in the rod end.
  2. The small retaining pin is inserted through the groove.
  3. The O-ring is than placed over the pin on the rod to retain the cross pin.

See Rod style GB on this link.
