When it comes to integration, ordering the correct marker for the job is always a must. It begins with the mark. While a number of solutions may be used for a given marking legend, other factors have to be considered; the size, the options, and the flexibility. The simple selection process with the 3D configurable models makes designing the proper marking system easy.

Columbia Marking Tools has made this process less tedious by uploading several models of air impact markers to Solidworks 3D Partstream. 3D Partstream offers you the luxury of configuring different options and features for each impact marker online, so you have an exact model to include in your drawing.

You can access the configurable models through links on Columbia Marking Tools’ website. Each air impact marker has a button directly connected to the 3D Partstream site, labeled “drawings”, and goes to the configurable page for that specific marker model. Once there, you can configure that model with the type of mount required, size and style of rod needed for the required marking information, and length of stroke. You can even configure a model with a retract position sensor and include whether or not the marker will use lubricated air.

After your model is created, you can view it from any angle using your mouse (figure 1). You may also download it if you log into 3D Partstream. There is also an operation guide for each configured maker under “Data Sheets”, and a “Request for Quote” button that collects the data for the selected model and sends it directly to Columbia. It just can’t get any easier.
