Air Valve Requirements

Q: I am going to have 5 of these markers working simultaneously. What would be appropriate valving configuration? Do I need to have separate valve for each marker or should I go with one valve with bigger flow for all of them. Please let me know.

Project Scope: CMT to supply a stand alone Diamond Scribe marking machine to mark a high resolution Square Dot 2D Matrix with man-readable text and non-printing ASCII characters (additional mark security) onto automotive racing parts. Materials are steel and aluminum. Machine is manual load / unload. Marking times vary from 20 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the part.

CMT to provide:
a) Heavy duty machine base
b) Marker swing arm – for large part marking
c) IM-C marking system capable of dot-peen or scribe marking. Scribe marking is required for CMT patented Square-Dottm
d) Programmable electric Z axis, 100mm
e) Cognex Camera – fully integrated into marking station to provide mark and read system
f) Upgraded operator Face with industrial touchscreen
g) IM software with customization to include: seamless interface with Cognex, additional non-printing ascii characters in 2D code (similar to UID constructs), and writing elements from the mark read process to an ascess data file (customer to provide elements required)

a) Replacement pin
b) Hand held Cognex reader

288 MTTR and MTBF

Q: Every component that we use on all Chrysler projects require an uptime analysis.

What is the MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) data for your devices or catalog products?

Part #: CM8X16-P ~ Columbia insert marker & 288SPOB25DNL    Columbia marker?

A: These are production dependent.

MTTR for the CM8X16 – is 1-2 minutes. The is a perishable item that can not be repaired but needs to be replaced.

MTBF for the CM8X16 – is 3 months. Life expectancy is dependent on production and environment. Most notable the hardness of the metal being marked

MTTR for the 288 – is 5-10 minutes. Depending on the skill level of the person changing the seals.

MTBF for the 288 – is 3-6 months. Depending on the quality of the air supplied to the marking system and the production rate.

Air Impact Press to mark Gear Housing

Project scope:  CMT to provide a stand alone Impact Marking Machine complete with part fixture stamp holder and stamps to mark gear housing parts. Material is cast iron, marking legend is (6) 3/16″ character part number. Customer provided part drawing shows location of the mark. Marking time is estimated at 2 seconds. Part loading / unloading is manual.
