Binary Select

Q: We are building a machine for our customer and we are retrofitting a machine with an IM_ID60 unit.

The machine is a dial index machine with eight fixtures.

We only have 24V discrete I/O available.

They would like to stamp a serial number (I understand how to do this with a counter)

They also would like the fixture number. 1-8.

I am wondering how to go about this.

Do you have any suggestions?

A:    There are a couple of options for doing this….

  • You can setup 8 different programs each with a counter and different tool number then select each of them with the ID60 Binary Select Bits
  • You can setup (1) program and then send the fixture number to the machine via serial data, EthernetIP or ModbusTCP
